Today, Hawai'i can be considered the melting pot of the Pacific. People representing cultures from across asia, europe, the pacific, and beyond, all live and coexist together. The history of Hawai'i is filed with stories and adventures. From pre-contact to the present, Hawai'i's cultural diversity has representation for them all. Since being admitted as the 50th state of the United States of America on August 21, 1959, Hawai'i continues to change. Economic pressures constantly force traditional culture to blend with the changing environment.
